Oskar update

(by Hunter):

So the dog folks out there have asked that I give an Oskar update.
He’s doing fine. He is mostly unaffected by his stay in the pokey, and aside from the tats and the flashing of gang signs he is still the same old loveable “good boy”.

But the burning question remains: does he circle the other way around before lying down (this being the Southern Hemisphere)?
Unfortunately our studio isn’t big enough for him to turn around in, so I can’t say which way he circles when he lays down.

I am happy to report that his ability to shed volumes of hair has not been compromised in the least. If that is a judge of his happiness and health, then he is thriving.

His bark is picking up a bit of an Australian twang, and he shortens and adds “...ie” onto his barks too. The driving-on-the-left-side-of-the-street thing has him pretty confused still, so I am not letting him take the car for now.

There is an excellent dog park right on the harbo(u)r at Rushcutter’s Bay, which is a short walk away. Dogs congregate there by the dozens in the evening, and Oskar has gotten pretty social. This is a change from his previous toy-fixation, but a good one. Most of the dogs are “city” dogs and only come up to Oskar’s knees. Luckily his experience with Tiki the Poodle in Portland taught him not to snack on those little furry treats, so he tolerates them stoically and even lords over them with his size and “hard-time” street cred.

He’s learning to recognize his name in Australia (“Aawska”) and respond to it.
He sends his “woo-woo” to all his mates in the Sunnyside hood, up PDX way.
