Cloud House over Oz

We have already received our first visitors from the Great Northwest! …not that we were quite ready to properly host them. At the time (end of April), we were pretty much fresh off the plane ourselves. Now that I have picture evidence to go along with the story, I can tell you about it.

Three Portland architects are getting recognition all the way down here in Australia. Edward Running, Shem Harding, and Kim Pannan teamed up to enter, in their spare time, an international housing design competition for Melbourne – and they won! In addition to being one of the select few winning entries, their design has the added prestige of having been chosen for likely production.

The guys were brought down to give a talk about their design at a conference in Melbourne, and managed to see a bit more of Australia in the bargain. It was on their swing through Sydney that we got to see Shem and Edward and friend/architect/portlandian Noelle Elliott for a couple evenings.
