Visa Vista

(cc)

8 June – a notable date – we’ve officially submitted for our long-stay visa and sponsorship. After a thwarted attempt with another agency and after a week of gathering documents, scanning them, writing essays on why we should be allowed to work and stay here, our destiny is now in the hands of the Australian immigration department. I haven’t felt so much weighing in on my future since my college applications! Luigi proof read the essays and though they sounded like something issued by the state department – not sure if that was positive or not, but at minimum it has some sort of official-ness about it. I hope the immigration officials are convinced! Unfortunately, since I am the sponsored visa applicant and Hunter is the secondary applicant on my sponsorship, I will not be able to teach sailing like I was hoping. Oh well - I figure that there will be other opportunities to sail and get out on the water – first things first – like a long-stay visa and a sponsored job. We should hear back in 2-4 weeks if we are accepted – in the meantime, we’re moving forward on good faith. Btw, if anyone needs advise or tips on applying for an Australian visa, I think we’re feeling like experts now, so feel free to ask us anything.
